THE FISHING
The Limay Medio River is a “tail water” large river and its structure varies in the many different channels, from riffles and deep pools in some areas to channels with faster runs and tail-outs in others. The La Limay River Ranch has new custom built drift boats available, NRS rafts & catarafts to provide the perfect boat for different channels and water types. Their new drift boats allow you to have several different rods, lines and rigs ready to make the most of each section of the river.
This is an ideal destination for those anglers looking for a trophy fish of a lifetime. The Limay Medio River is a large river and its structure varies in the many different channels, from riffles and deep pools in some areas to channels with faster runs and tail-outs in others. Depending on the section of the river guests will be fishing, both intermediate and full sinking lines will often be used to get the fly down to the deeper, cooler water, where the big trout live.
The unique location of the lodge on the lower section of the Limay Medio gives guests a very exclusive fishing experience in that there are no public access points to the river inside or anywhere near the ranch, nor are there any easy access points off the river downstream from from the lodge. Additionally, guests also have the opportunity to fish the upper sections of the Limay Medio, below the Pichi Picun Leufu dam (about 20 minutes from the lodge). All sections of the river that are fished when staying at the lodge will hold both rainbow and brown trout.
The La Limay fishing guides work exclusively for the lodge and therefore must meet high standards in order to be part of the staff. All the native Argentine fishing guides are personable, English speaking, and have grown up fishing the waters of the Limay River system.

The boats used at La Limay River Ranch are custom-built drift boats, as well as NRS rafts & catarafts.
GETTING THERE
Guests will fly to either San Martin or Bariloche, and be met by a Slipstream rep. Once you clear customs you will be transferred to the Estancia La Limay, approximately a 3 hour drive.

The guest lodge on Estancia La Limay is of exceptionally high quality and comfort. The lodge can easily accommodate up to 8 guests, providing a very exclusive experience for each visitor. Every evening, when you arrive at the ranch from your fishing day, the bartender/sommelier will offer you her signature drinks while you and your fishing guide will plan the following day according to your wishes. During your stay at the La Limay River Ranch, their world-class chef will prepare each of his exclusive signature dishes adapted to your individual needs and preferences. This is Argentine cuisine at the highest level.
There are no public access to the channels of the river inside the ranch, and no easy access off the river downstream, making it and all its channels virtually private for our guests! This is important to highlight as this section of the river is the only tailwater fishery in the region, featuring cool stable water releases that create a rich habitat for a large fish population. The ranch will also give guests the opportunity to fish the upper sections of the Limay River. You will be placed on the part of the river where fishing is best for each day of your stay.
