Camp Bonaventure
THE FISHING
Camp Bonaventure is ideally located to allow our guests the opportunity to fish three great Atlantic salmon rivers from June through September. These are beautiful and productive salmon waters. The Bonaventure is legendary for its water clarity and sight-casting opportunities, the Petit Cascapedia is known for its clear picturesque pools holding big salmon and huge brookies, the famous Grand Cascapedia is a habitat where salmon in the forty-pound class are not uncommon.
Your days on the river are enhanced by the experience and knowledge of the expert guides who have fished these waters for years and know where to put you over fish. The Lodge’s seven expert guides are all highly professional and bilingual, always carrying digital cameras to capture important moments or fish portraits. The head waters of our rivers begin high in the Chic-Choc mountain range in the heart of the Gaspe Peninsula, providing cold, clear water throughout the entire season. Some of the very best salmon fishing occurs at times when other rivers experience poor fishing due to high water temperatures or low water conditions.
Fishing is done either by wading or from our traditional 26-foot river canoes. Early season can allow for a combination of both, while later in the season our pools are better fished by wading. Or, relax during a float trip along miles of pristine river where you will experience not only great fishing along the way but the breathtaking scenery the area has become famous for.
BOATS AND EQUIPMENT
