Mexico – Boulder Won
THE SKIFFS
The Bolder Won has three 19 foot fiberglass Mimsa mold flats skiffs that guests will fish from. Each skiff has an elevated poling platform for the guide, two comfortable seats in front of the center console for the anglers, rod holders, plenty of storage space and a wide, generous casting platform at the front of the skiff.
These Mimsa skiffs have the traditional Mexican panga high bow, which are ideal for fishing in just about all manner of water conditions that the Bolder Won will fish throughout the year. The skiffs are very light and draw very little water, meaning that the guides can get in to super skinny water.
THE FISHING
The fishing will depend entirely on which location you have booked the Bolder Won? This is precisely what makes this operation so special, as we know of only one other live aboard operation (Australia) anywhere that offers more choice and flexibility in terms of where you fish and what you fish for. Guests have the option of where they want to go and what they want to fish for. While the yacht will be working off a fixed, set location schedule, it’s just a question of matching what guests are interested in targeting and where the boat will be at a given time.
The area that the Bolder Won operates within for fishing encompasses the Mexican state Quintana Roo. With enough advance notice, the Bolder Won is also available to fish the northern half of Belize.
The destinations within the state of Quintana Roo that the Bolder Won can be booked for are, Ascencion Bay, Chinchorro Banks and Espiritu Santu Bay.
Ascencion Bay – Bonefish, permit, tarpon and snook
Chinchorro Banks – Bonefish, juvenile tarpon, snook and permit
Scorpion Atoll – Bonefish, permit and reef species
EXTRA TOYS
The Bolder Won has a Bertram 29ft/ 8.84meter tender w/ 2 x 200hp Yamaha outboards as well as an 18ft. Nautica rib w/35hp. The Bertram is fitted out with all necessary equipment for deep sea fishing, water skiing or shuttle service to ports of call from remote locations. The Bolder Won also has an on board dive compressor to service the 12 sets of dive equipment, hookah system, wake board, paddle boards, beach lounges, umbrellas and beach toys.
GETTING THERE
Once guests clear customs in Cancun, they need to head outside to the waiting area. It can be very chaotic but our driver will be waiting outside with a sign that reads “SLIPSTREAM” and “YOUR NAME”. Once you find our driver, he will escort you over to your waiting taxi for the 90 minute drive from the Cancun Airport to the coastal town of Chiquila. Upon arrival at the water taxi stand, guests will board the waiting water taxi for the 20 minute shuttle out to the island. A waiting golf cart will then pick you up at the water taxi stand on Holbox and will then drive you the 5 minutes over to the hotel. All the transfers are booked in advance and all you have to do is show up!
Slipstream is a full service travel company that can handle a variety of services relating to your trip. For assistance, please contact us directly at 1 866 644-7703.

THE YACHT
The BOLDER WON motor yacht is a superb combination of function and style, and the owners have created the most luxurious and efficient live aboard fishing operation we know of. No expense has been spared on this yacht, making it the ideal platform from which to base when fishing Mexico’s isolated and hard to reach fishing areas like the Chinchorro Banks.
The yacht was custom built in 2007 and measures 75 feet in length. She boasts 2800 feet of living space, on four deck levels and can accommodate up to 6 anglers in 5 en-suite cabins.
The interior décor is richly laid out in Cherry and Maple Joinery, presenting a warm welcome ambiance. The salon offers a comfortable living area with two couches, ottomans, teak chairs and integrated formal dining table. The salon has a B&K entertainment center with wide screen TV for movies. Panoramic windows provide spectacular views and infuse the interior with ample natural light. Each of the 5 staterooms is equipped with queen size Tempur-Pedic mattress, private en-suite head/shower, as well as its own personal entertainment center, lighting system and A/C controls.
Exterior living is plentiful on 4 exterior decks areas. The main deck aft features a BBQ and alfresco dining area, adjacent to the generous salon, ideal for entertaining. The foredeck is spacious thanks to the 9.04m (29.8ft) beam and offers a fabulous sunning and relaxing area. An upper deck aft of the pilot house is a wonderful location to lounge and take in the sunrise and sunset. The upper fly bridge boasts a top of the world view.
