Iceland

Tours

Iceland has quite a varied topography but it is one of the most volcanic regions in the world. Because of this, Iceland has a rugged landscape dotted with hot springs, sulfur beds, geysers, lava fields, canyons and waterfalls. There are approximately 200 volcanoes in Iceland and most of them are active.

Iceland is a volcanic island primarily because of its location on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge which separates the North American and Eurasian Earth plates. This causes the island to be active geologically as the plates are constantly moving away from each other. In addition, Iceland lies on a hotspot (like Hawaii) called the Iceland Plume which formed the island millions of years ago. As a result in addition to minor earthquakes, Iceland is prone to volcanic eruptions and features the aforementioned geologic features such as hot springs and geysers.

When our guests travel to Iceland to fish, we often receive requests for a day or two of non angling activities that highlight this unique and wonderful country. Because of its rugged environment and isolated points of interest, we have a series of spectacular trips and tours of varying lengths that utilize new 4 wheel drive vehicles, which allow our guests to safely get into some of the most remote and logistically challenging geographic regions in the country.

The 4 wheel drive fleet includes Land Rover Defenders, the Land Rover Discovery, Nissan patrol, Ford Econoline and Ford Excursion, all modified to enhance guest comfort. We have the ability to tailor a wide variety of options and destinations throughout Iceland and will be happy to put together some ideas upon request. Some of our favorite trip options are below.
