Country Information

In many respects, because of its size, Canada poses a serious problem to the destination angler who is looking to book a trip to the “Great White North”. Given that most of Canada’s 10 provinces and 3 territories are larger than most countries, where does one even begin when considering a fishing trip?

These distinct and diverse regions run the gamut of angling experiences; each possessing its own unique character, defining species and geography, as well as cultural touch points. From the Pacific Rim flavours and natural splendour of the Mountains / West, to the productive Northern Pike fishery of the Prairies, to the centuries old Atlantic Salmon traditions of Quebec and Canada’s East Coast. Canada definitely has a location that will meet and exceed your angling expectations.

Slipstream Angling is very familiar with this wonderful country and we’ve been fishing its waters for 40 years. Our knowledge of each region, along with a comprehensive understanding of the species found in each area, allow us to zero in on a specific location for our guests, based on what our guests are most interested in catching.

Canada’s east coast boasts one of the premier Atlantic Salmon rivers in the world, the mighty Miramichi. Our lodge on the Miramichi, Wilsons Camp, owns or leases more private water on this venerable river that any other outfitter or individual. 2008 produced huge numbers of caught salmon and the old guard on the river are saying that the numbers of big fish are reminding them of the way it used to be in the 40’s and 50’s.

The province of Quebec hosts an astonishing array of opportunities for destination anglers and we feel that we have the provinces top waters at our disposal. The northern reaches of Labrador and Quebec offer one of the most exciting and remote trips we know of, where brook trout, sea trout, land locked salmon, lake trout and arctic char are all available.

Our beautiful Quebec salmon lodge, Camp Bonaventure, is known for its stunningly clear water and excellent site casting opportunities. Further south in Quebec, La Reserve Beauchene, a 50,000 acre private reserve, has a spectacular mix of species that include Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Brook Trout, Lake Trout, Splake and Northern Pike.

In the Northern wilds of the Prairie province of Saskatchewan, we have world class trophy Northern Pike fishing. Wollaston Lake has been consistently producing enormous Northern Pike for decades, we feel this location offers you the best shot at a 50 inch + fish.

Canada’s western most province, British Columbia, has so many quality angling options that we have narrowed them down to what we feel are the very best. We have an excellent helicopter fishing operation as well as live aboards and the more traditional lodge settings from which to choose. BC offers a variety of salmon, giant halibut and steelhead, in one of the most pristine, untouched environments found anywhere.
